Staus of Alpinista in Baton Rouge, Louisiana

Just an FYI- For those of you who know or hike with Alpinista, I spoke to her online several times since Friday morning. She is deployed ito Baton Rouge, Louisiana editing the AP news stories coming out for Katrina and sending reporters out to gather news.

She is doing fine, working minimum 16 hour days. She said the devestation is incredible. Hopes to see you all soon! I told her to stay safe and I'd let the board know she was doing fine.

Latest word from late yesterday is she may be back Saturday, 9-10-05.

Tapping in briefly from an RV we set up on Canal Street. This place is destroyed. I've never been here before. It must've been beautiful, but now it looks like a war zone.

Hope to see our mountains soon, and all of you on the trails. I need a beer!

Received a surprise call from Alpinista today at noon while I was standing on the Mt. Abraham, Maine summit admiring a spectacularly clear view. She was flying out of Houston and would arrive at Logan AP sometime tonight!!

Question for you Alpinista, and it's not meant to stir any trouble, but I am curious. My older brother says the military is going door to door to remove people, and the first thing they are doing is confiscating all the guns, any truth to this?

Thankyou Cantdog. I started the thread only to keep the many hikers who know Alpinista informed of her doings. By the way she got in late last night from New Orleans.
