Stratton Pond Trail is in top shape from Kelly Stand Road to the pond (including one stretch of 45 puncheon lengths). North Shore Trail from the LT around the north side of Stratton Pond is badly flooded at the east end. It is possible to step on stones only barely under water and to do splits to stay dry - but not easy.

We (two hikers in their 60s) averaged 3 miles an hour from Kelly Stand to Stratton Pond. Then it took one hour to do the 1.4 mile circuit of the pond itself.

Lye Brook Trail from Stratton Pond to Bourn Pond is easy to follow. The stretch across the micro-burst area is the only difficult stretch. Beavers have fashioned some very wet ground in the middle. It is currently possible to inch along some fallen trees across the water. A beaver dam offers a somewhat wet alternate. Within a decade this stretch of trail may need to be replaced by an extensive herd-path relocation (maybe a mile in length - it's wilderness area) or will need some work to harden some kind of bridge across the water area.

Rest of the trail is in spectacular shape. We hiked many miles in Maine earlier this summer, and dealt with great stretches of mud. Only the east end of the North Shore Trail came close to difficulty we encountered there.

About 5 hours for the 11.9 trail loop and 1.2 mile road walk at the end. Fourteen people seen.
