Poking around on some of the 'jarred' Vermont summits, I've found that the lids are sometimes difficult to open. Rusted, stuck, frozen, jammed, etc.
Just started carrying a thin rubber jar opener, in dollar stores or convention giveaways. Weighs less than an ounce.
Thought I'd pass the idea along if it hasn't been thought of already.

If you have weak hands like me, you're better with an oil filter wrench :)

For E Long 3661 bring a wrench with 1" jaws to remove PVC cap

A rock and a new jar in your backpack will also solve this problem.;) Just pack the glass out for Marc Howes to melt back together at the next signal fire gathering.
