Trail conditions: At the Tripoli Road end the water crossing was interesting..some balanced precariously on a log..I waded through on stepping stones that were 6-8 inches below water level..all arrived safely. Some mud down below and slippery rock on the cone but this is a delightful trail in good shape. From the summit to ski area, after the Sosman JCT the trail a flowing brook in spots though not slippery. From the skiers cut throught to the end of the ramp was fine with occaisional water. Brook crossing in the ravine was fine for me but those with shorter legs had to take a BIG step..some mud along the next section..Final brook crossings had submerged rocks but were fine
Equipment: pole helped on the crossings for sure..other than that nothing really came out of the pack.
Comments: forcast a bit iffy so settled for short walk close to home..Able to car spot which was nice..water flowing in all brooks..Met up with Greybeard and Mrs Graybeard near the summit cone just moments after he finished up his #48..GREAT JOB GRAYBEARD!! Some hazy views towards the Trys but that was about it. Slick and slippy in spots on descent..passed one gentlman who grunted hi..met a couple of folks in tevas..no socks..no packs..no water..no nothing but certainty that they would ascend the top..oh well..except for snacks we didn't take anything out of the packs..hummm
nice view as we dropped by the ski trail and hot and sunny in the parking lot
as a side note..took the Sandwich Notch Road home..it is in great shape with only a couple of rough spots as you first cross into Sandwich there..Saw a Sandwich road crew and Sandwich police cruiser out in the notch today...
a couple of pics including GRAYBEARD on his NH48 finish
