OK, during my long vacation to Wrangell St. Elias, Mt Rainier, Idaho, etc. etc. I've just realized I've had this one package of Mountain House 20oz Beef Teriyake with me during almost the whole trip. I bought it at the REI in Anchorage and took it with me the full time I was in the backcountry in Wrangell St. Elias. I never ate it and it wound up being the spare meal. Then it went back to Anchorage and flew with me to Boise, Idaho where I did some whitewater rafting. Since it was only a daytrip, I didn't have it with me on the river, but it was at my friend's house. It then flew with me to Seattle with some idea to bring it to camp Muir, but I didn't bring that particular one so it stayed in Ashford and then in the rental car in Paradise.

So, it went back to NJ after the trip to Rainier and after stopping in Boise again to pick up the rest of my gear....

Back in NJ, the next two weekends were in the Dax, one at The 3rd Annual BBQ and doing Cliff and Redfield, so guess what? The Beef Teriyake went to flowed lands and stayed in my bear canister cause it rainied that night and we decided not to cook dinner and I ate a bagel for dinner at the trailhead... But it did make the trip to Uphill Brook leanto from Flowed lands while MCorsar and I did Cliff and Redfield.

Fast forward to this past weekend and another trip to the ADKs to do the Santanonis... Well, I brought it AGAIN and didn't eat it cause didn't feel like eating it.

This weekend I'm going to the catskills and will bring it... What are the odds it will return once again, the Beef Teriyake that never dies... :D

Jay, since its well sealed it HAS to taste better than the well traveled, horrible tasting oatmeal I had at the DWG this summer.

After a few more trips you might want to auction it on eBay.

I often have granola bars that make a lot of trips, but not to the exotic locations you visit. Eventually I pawn them off on some gullible chipmunk. Do you think chipmunks would like Beef Teriyaki?

Jeff, well although it has been to all those places, it really hasn't had much "me time". :) It's either been stuffed in a bearvault bear canister (they are clear though so it could have some nice but sort of distorted views) or in a large blue duffel bag in a car.

It's in my car right now, inside a plastic bag ready to go to the catskills and New Paltz today....

I had a similar experience with a package of hot-dogs. The hot-dogs went over Camel's Hump, and a few other places before it was finally devoured ho-hum by my friend one hungry night at home. I always thought the hot-dogs deserved more than that....

SherpaK, why yes, yes it is! I've had it before. The even stranger thing is, that I made it "ultralite" since it's one of the older kind of MH. The kind that you can take the inner pouch out of the outer plastic shell and then simply tape the top together and write on it what it is. Now the new MH stuff uses the outer pouch as the bag so you can't do that anymore.

I guess it would be called a 20oz Naked Mountain House Beef Teriyaki. :)

It Lives!!!!

Went to the catskills and went up Olderbark and Plateau, but by the time all of us arrived at the Mink Hollow leanto, nobody felt like cooking, so it survived that trip. Then on sunday night, it stayed in the car as I took the fettucini to Devil's Kitchen leanto by Plattekill and ate that.

I wonder if I'll ever be able to eat it now thinking of all the memories.... ahhhh..

:)

The Beef Teriyaki (mountain House) is GONE! I ate it friday night at Lost Clove lean to with John S. Just thought I'd report the status of it. The thing is I could of saved it since we bailed out saturday instead of staying another night. But I was in a beef teriyaki mood I guess on friday so I ate it.

THIS IS AN EX-BEEF TERIYAKI!!
