In the 80's(last time I was on Owl's Head) there was an interesting marker at the place where the path to the summit left the trail. There was a small, metallic owl with jeweled eyes nailed to the tree right at the junction. It was a few inches tall, high enough up so it was above eye level, but not so low that it was easy to spot and appropriate.
I think I have a picture of it somewhere, but its a Kodachrome. Does anyone recall seeing it or how long it remained there? I'm guessing its long gone now.
