I am planning a Presi trip for the first week of July. How fast does the Perch or tent sites fill up midweek?

Thanks

I've been up to the Perch several times, always near the end of the week, and always had my choice of platforms on arrival. By evening it's always been full though, and I've seen people having to leave in the dark. I've heard of an overflow area nearby but I have no idea where that might be.

Mid-week you'll probably have no problem finding a spot. Bring a tent, as the shelter may fill first, or you may just want the peace and quiet of your own tent platform.

Puck, I’m doing the same thing. I’m parking at Pinkham on the morning of the 4th of July (parking should be fun) and heading to Mt. Isolation. If I get there early, I might take a side trip to Mt. Davis or head to Dry River Falls. I’ll camp for the night just north of Isolation and the next morning head over to the Perch. I’m hoping for two things. First, that everyone from the 4th of July holiday are heading off the mountain and returning home, and second, that I can find a spot at the Perch, Gray Knob or Crag Camp. The next morning I will head over Adams and Madison and head back to my car at Pinkham.

last time I was there someone had pitched their solo tent ON TOP OF the privy waste holding cell (the black plastic part near the back)...apparently this was the only place left that the caretaker would allow a tent to be pitched.....this was a weekend though, so no clue about mid-week.....

We are doing the opposite. Will park at Appalchia on jul 5, get madison and Adams then camp (Hopefully at the Perch) Next day make it over Jefferson and Monroe and Ike thento either the Dry River area or the Mizpah tent site. The next day get Isolation then Shuttle back to the car.

We should pass you at some point. What is the code word again? "Alligator Egg" or will you wear a Quinnipiac t shirt? :D

Actually, we will both be at the Perch on the night of the 5th, so save me a spot. I had originally thought of doing my trip similar to yours, but didn’t want to play with the shuttle at the end of the trip. I hope to make it to the Perch by mid-afternoon. You cannot miss me; I will be the dashing middle aged male who looks like a sniveling puddle of humanity after hiking from Isolation.
