The Roost is a great little hike. I even got my kids to go a few years back. Unfortunately, we didn't know that you had to go down the spur path to get the views. The summit sign area has no views in the summer, and we were bummed. Went back a few years later and there was a small sign pointing to the trail to the view. I was impressed by the views over the valley.
Be careful if you swim in the river under the suspension bridge in the summer, there were lots of leaches last summer.
