It was a hot and humid day. (Apologies to Bulwer-Lytton) But other than that it was great! A short 6.5 miler was just what we wanted considering the temps and dewpoint.

Lots of water & gatorade, bug spray and sunscreen got us through the day.

Saw one spruce grouse chick being protected by its father. The father was puffing up its feathers and displaying its wings to draw all attention to him while the chick quickly climbed away. It was great to see this behavior. We didn't want to disturb him too much so we moved on quickly after a few shots with the camera.

There was enough of a breeze so the heat and the humidity didn't affect us that much. Not many people on the trails today although there were many late starters hiking in the heat of the mid-afternoon day. Good luck to them!

Spotted a small patch of cloudberry which is always a real find.

Another wonderful day in the mountains!
