On saturday July 29 I went to hike those peak. I start at 5:00 am
with my headlamp, at around 5:30 am I see a moose about 30 feets
in front of me on the side of the gale river trail. I was not sure if it was
a moose or a bear but it was big. I stop and the moose get away and I
was very happy. I continued and hike very fast until Galehead hut and
went to Galehead Mtn. At the summit at 7:10 am and in the fog, no view.
I went down and took a break at the hut. At 7:45 am I start to hike for
South Twin, step hike that I like to be in. At S Twin at 8:20 and no view,
in the fog again. I continued to N Twin and again in the fog, I returned to
S Twin and the fog had disapear and very good view. A short break and
continued for the Bonds. Very windy at Guyot summit, step hike to west
Bonds. At the summit I see another hiker who hike the 3 Bonds from the
Lincoln Wood. Good view at the summit of Bonds and Bondscliff. That small
mountain was so impressive that I went for it very fast. Good view at the
summits of Bonds and Bondscliff. At the summit of Bondscliff the sky start
to be very dark so I return fast to Bonds-Guyot. Very windy at Guyot, long
return to S Twin (3rd time at that summit in the same day). At 3:15 pm I
was back at S Twin and took a 15 minutes break. After I went down and
the big rocks where very wet and slippery. At the hut I fill my water bottle,
a short break and went to the trail head (Gale river ). I finish at 6:00 pm.
Very long day (24 miles,11 summits, 6000 feet ascent) but not as tough
that the Presidential traverse and the Great Range in the Daks.
On the sunday I went hiking with Dave,Don and Dinet from Boston. We
hike the tripyramide peak. I done North and Middle tripyramide peak, going
up on the north slide (never done a slide that tough and slippery) and down
by the Scaure ridge. 5 minutes before finish on sunday I see dog or a coyotte
in the strawberry plant near the trail. He went away and stop and look at me, I am not sure of what is it because it was the size of a dog and it was golden. Did some body loose a dog in the livermore trail near Hgw 112.
