Trails: North Twin, North Twin Spur
Conditions: We skipped the first two crossings and took the herd path. The fallen tree is the way to go for the third crossing. A few bugs were swarming in the parking lot. We put on bug spray and weren't bothered for the rest of the hike. The trail was mostly dry before the third river crossing. After the crossing there were some muddy patches, and some running water on the trail. Patchy snow between 3400' and 3700'. Above 3700' the snow covers more of the trail than not, especially in shaded areas. There was some ice, but mostly a firm monorail that didn't seem much more than a foot deep. The North Twin Spur still had quite a bit of snow, up to 3 feet in spots, almost all in the form of a firm monorail. Postholing wasn't a problem, though it was slushier on the hike out. We carried our spikes, but didn't use them.
Comments: A beautiful day to be out. The temperatures were perfect, and the views were great.
