We were at the trailhead by 8 (which is quite an accomplishment for us!). Had been planning to do Thomas Cole and Blackdome before it got too hot, but it didn't quite work out that way. It was hot and DRY - there is no water in any of the usual streams that cross the trail. There was a nice breeze at the top, but with no place for the dog to cool off, we cut it short. Back to the car by 10:30, home by noon - not a bad post July 4th.
