After a super warm adirondack hike last week (April 30), Jenn and I decided to do a few new NH 4000-footers, and chose Cannon and North Kinsman.
Wonderful weather but much cooler, and... there's definitely still ice and snow above 3500 feet in this corner of the whites. The Kinsman ridge trail down from Cannon mountain was especially treacherous - I guess the steepness and the aspect keep it colder and icier for longer. At the bottom of that stretch I was about ready to bail!
We kept on, though, and the trail conditions got better. It was a good call, because we were able to pick up our pace, get to some great lookouts, and turn the outing into a nice loop hike.
Full trip report with pictures is available here.
(oh, and anyone who is interested in last week's Noonmark/Round hike in the Adirondacks can look here)
