Saturday: Tripyramids to Camp Shehadi (not there). The black flies were awful and swarming. Outside the tent, the black flies swarmed you and crawled in your nose and ears. Thankfully we had a tent to escape the bugs; otherwise, one would have gone insane. At about 8 PM, they disappeared however and the night was fine.

Sunday: Over to Liberty Cabin on Mt. Chocura. The mosquitoes here are getting bad at lower elevations only. The bugs disappeared at about 2500 feet. It rained all day.

Monday: Out to Kanc, hitch ride to Gordon Pond Trail to Eliza Brook shelter. Mist all day, but Gordon Pond is really pretty. No bugs here except near Lincoln. Full shelter with thru-hikers!

Tuesday: Over Kinsmans and down to my father-in-laws house in Franonia. Perfect weather with black flies only at the lowest elevations.

Required: An updated trail map (my fault), bug dope and bug jacket. The next few days will have very bad bugs, especially if we get a warm day.

This was a rough hike. Between the bugs and 48 hours of rain/mist, it wasn't for the fair weather hiker. June in the White Mountains can be rough and this trip was no exception.
