tripyramids from waterville valley (sun 1/31/2010)
trail conditions very good, a couple few inches fresh snow over firm base up livermore road and scaur ridge. completely packed on the ridge from the jct w/ pine bend. some icy spots in the steeper places on the ridge ascent to north tripyramid.
i wore snowshoes (Tubbs Mountaineer w/ aggressive teeth) the whole time, though i probably could've switched to crampons for the ridge. used ice ax.
only saw a small handful of folks today (all on the ridge though at least one other person came up from WV). all wore snowshoes. there was a mix of ice axes and poles.
as an aside, no one has touched the slide trails. the stream crossing to south slide looked kinda sketchy as the ice on the brook didn't look too thick.
