Well, I finally checked off Middle Tripyramid, #38, on my 4th attempt. A couple of years ago I had reached North summit on a 95 degree, 100% humidity June day. Thunderstorms were threatening, so we decided to retreat down Scaur Ridge Tr rather than risk staying up on the ridge. A good decision at the time.
Since I live 10 minutes from the Livermore Tr head, I had decided to finish the 3 summits this year. I ended up aborting 2 attempts up South Slide in the Spring due to weather and high water conditions. So, with the perfect weather this was going to be the day. And a beautiful day it was.
The Scaur Ridge Trail was beautiful, kind of wild and overgrown although one could always make out the trail. At about 3000 ft the character of the trail changed from open forest to lush evergreens- possibly Spruce and Hemlock,
In some spots the trail was a very narrow path through the evergreens. Truly beautiful. I imagined how special it would look covered in a white mantel of snow.
The early views of the North Slide were obscured by the bright Sun which seemed to always be glaring right at me throughout the hike. The first good views were from the Pine Bend Brook Trail. Middle Tripyramid had excellent views both east and west from 2 different outlooks.
I found the trail challenging especially the beginning of the descent down the South Slide. The result being that my knees were pretty sore by the time I reached the parking lot. However the views were well worth the effort. I lingered for quite awhile on the summit of Middle Tri soaking it all in.

Scaur is a nice trail, less stressful and a more relaxed route to the summit. I used it a couple of times and it always seemed little used. The views yesterday were fantastic, I looked over to the Tri's from jackson- they looked spectacular!

Glad you had a great hike!
