This was an AMC hike. After a nice stay at Subsig Friday night, we spotted a car at the Olivarian Brook Trail parking lot, and then drove over to Pine Bend Brook. We drove up from Boston Friday night seeing both rainbows and lightning storms and expected the trails to be quite wet. They actually were not all that bad, fortunately. The trails up to the Tripyramids are all in very nice condition. North Tripyramid's summit was a little buggy, but not all that bad. It was quite unpleasant at the top of the south slide, alas.
I had never been on the Kate Sleeper Trail before, and it's lovely! As Bryan mentioned [http://www.vftt.org/forums/showthre...hiteface-passaconaway-6-1-12&referrerid=2786] on his report from the week prior, there were a number of blow downs. We moved as many of the smaller ones as well could, but there a handful of big trees that will need to be sawed. They are all low to the ground, however, and not much of a problem. Otherwise, the trail is in very good condition.
We had a discussion as to how many people actually hike the Kate Sleeper Trail, since it is in such good shape, and it turns out, quite a few! We met a group of Quebecquois doing the same route, and we took turns swapping the lead. Trail up to Sleeper is also in very good condition.
Met a troop of Boy Scouts who were going to stay just below Passaconaway. Quite buggy, again.
There is a enormous beaver dam near the end of the Olivarian Brook Trail, and be advised that the trail next to it was quite flooded. Only those with full on hiking boots managed to tip top along the rapidly deteriorating edge of the trail with dry socks. Any one with sneakers will find them soaked.
It was an extremely nice route! All in all in quite good condition. Ample water, if one had a filter, but I could see the whole route save for the start and finish being dry in the summer months.
