We skied from the upper parking up the Turtleback Mt. Trail, broke (on skis) the 1/2 mile out to Turtleback, returned to TM Trail and skied to within a half mile or so of the Black Snout Trail. After the initial stretch, which had nice ski/snowshoe tracks, the Turtleback Mt. Trail had wide, smooth groomed snowmobile conditions, perfect! Powder out to Turtleback was light and deep, now broken.
Skis.
We planned on skiing Turtleback and then down and out to Bald Knob but the Bald Knob Trail was unbroken and the uphill ski breaking without skins would have been Farewell to Arms. So we had lunch on Turtleback and then skied a couple of miles beyond. Descent was a hoot, like being on a groomed alpine ski trail. Saw a few snowmobiles (thankfully in the right places), all polite and mostly 4-stroke. Gorgeous day and views.
