Last evening (Sun 12:00 am -- 1 am) NH PBS (Ch 11) broadcast a segment of the "Globe Trekker" series entitled "Ice Trekking the Alps". It featured a ski traverse of the Haute Route (European Alps) from Chamonix to Zermatt and a short feature of snowshoeing in the Austrian Alps. It is scheduled to repeat in the Boston area on Ch 44 at 8pm Wed 10/31 and Thu 11/1 at 1:30 pm.

It isn't really aimed at the mountaineering crowd, but I suspect that some of you might enjoy watching it anyway...

I did the sister route to the Haute Route this summer as well (the Tour du Mont Blanc).

It was incredible! Both of those extending hiking trips are fantastic. Let me know if you'd like some info on this trip or that area.
