Planning to take my YMCA group to Mt Greylock next Saturday. Was hoping to use the Roaring Brook trail from the west. Inexperienced group, and looking to MA to avoid big game hunting season in the ADKs, and opening day of the hunting season in the Catskills - concerned that gunfire might upset my guys.
Anyone have an idea about snow conditions on the peak?

Thanks,
Alan

you could call the ski club. I doubt there's any snow, too warm during the day, but I'd say there's an excellent chance for areas of black ice in the morning and in the shade. good luck. I'm doing an AMC Leadership School this weekend or I'd ask to join you.

I would not expect to see any significant snow or ice. I was up there a couple of Sundays ago and saw flurries, but the road was still open. The worst hazard would be walking on slippery leaves.
