Now that I'm all settled into my new place in Quechee, Vermont, it is high time to get cracking on those hiking goals that have been collecting dust in the years spent living out West.

My first, since I am a "re-native" of Vermont, is to knock out all of the 3000-foot peaks in Vermont. I have 85 on my list (although some are probably "unofficial"), but I have had a sneaking suspicion that there are others, and I have never seen any "official" lists despite a bit of searching. Mostly, to date, my hikes have been borne from "Hey, that mountain looks neat. Let's walk over there!" conversations. I'd like to hone in on mountains that I may be missing.

Has anybody seen or could point me in the direction of a Vermont 3K list or a Vermont Hundred Highest list? (If it's a big secret and I need to go to the summit of Salt Ash Mountain to unearth it, that's fine too -- just another excuse to go for a hike.)

Thanks in advance.

There are several people of the board who are either working on or have finished the NE770, which is all the 3K's in the North East. If no one else volunteers to send you the list, I will send it to you when I return from vacation. (The original author of said list has stated that it can be shared, but asked that it not be posted on the internet). PM me...

To get started, you can thru hike the LT, that'll make a pretty big dent in the list! :D Some VT 3Ks are just off trail as well, e.g. there are at least 5 'Jays' on the list, 2 of which are on the trail, and 3 are near by.

Thanks guys. I received the 770 list, although I haven't "studied" it just yet. It will be fun to see which mountains I missed in Vermont and to start planning and figuring out how to get to the top of them!
