The NewEngland 3K list has 109 Vermont peaks on it...

Alan,
I have sifted these out into it's own list and can send it to you if you like. It uses the 200 foot col rule.

100 highest in Vermont

There's no generally recognized Vermont 100 highest list, perhaps because the 3000 footer peaks are very similar in number. As an enjoyable contrast to NH and Maine 3000 footers, the Vermont peaks, especially the ones in the southern 2/3 of the state tend to be more open woods and broadleaf trees to the top, allowing better views in the fall and some very pleasant walks. All-in-all an enjoyable effort.

With fall coming, I can recommend Woodward Mountain in Waterbury as one of the finest foliage hikes I've ever done. We went up the ridge from the Little River campground. It was open woods almost all the way, and the beech-birch forest immersed us in gleaming yellow, with some nice bonus views. That was 12 years ago, but I don't think they've converted the place to condos. :)

Again, named USGS peaks (obviously a low col threshold - if any - as several Mansfield features are listed):

Col requirements aside, that's still a pretty cool list of lists. Thanks for the link. Interesting to look at the NY list and see the highest Catskill peaks intermingled with the lowest of the ADK 46. Definitely not w/o it's flaws (Bearpen seems to be missing) but interesting nonetheless.

Can't wait to get back over to Vermont myself.

Matt, using the 770 list, I put together this list of the NY Hundred Highest.

I looked at the above Vt list and as we all know there is only one countable summit on Mansfield. Those list are questionable at best. So with nothing better to do using Topozone and a 200 foot col rule as the criteria I came up with 103 3K summits that pass the 200 foot col rule. What is interesting is there are only 18 "Unnamed" Thought there would have been a lot more than that. The lowest one is Unnamed at 3001 feet on the Readsboro quad 42.82 - 72.94
We had to add a half contour line to get that puppy up to 3k as the map shows the highest line being 912 meters. with six meters per line by adding a half line the summit is 915 or 3001.97 feet. close enough for government work and it still misses the 100 highest.

Yup, that list is useless. I suspect it just uses the USGS database, filters features for "summit" and then ranks according to elevation. Not very sophisticated, especially when DBs such as Peakbagger and SummitPost and others exist.

every once in a while when I have a few minutes I work on a script to describe summits from DEMs based on col rules. Not being a full-time GISer I don't make much progress. It's probably already been done by those that really know how - I just tinker.

The best guide is the Swanson 770 list which I remembered I had AFTER a couple of folks here sent me a list of the peaks they'd extracted from it.
The Swanson list has the peak, elevation and quad.
I'd happily share it with anyone who wants to PM their email address, but would rather the guy who sent it take a bow for doing the real work.
A good friend of mine also saw my inquiry and sent a list not in s/s format.

I figure that with the ADK100 just completed, if I sloooowly work my way east, I may just have enough time to get to the tip of Maine sometime midway in my next lifetime.

No offense Peakbagr, but John Swanson had nothing to do with putting the VT 3k list together. Kudos must go to Gene Daniell, Dennis Crispo, John McHugh, and Roy S.

Me bad. I'd always heard that Gene did a ton of research to establish the 770 list, and then John Swanson took much of the information and then did a painstaking checking and rechecking.
I respect both guys immensely, so any error was completely inadvertent.
Thanks,
Peakbagr
