Left out beer

Hey Pamola,

Did you leave out the Alt Bier from your McNeills tasting list? Or maybe they had run out.

Also, Black Mountain is written about in the great book by Tom Wessels, "The Granite Landscape". It is (I think..please correct me if I'm wrong) the only granite dome in VT and provides the most southerly habitat for several plant species that are often found further north. It's got some nice napping ledges, that's for sure!

Both "The Granite Landscape" and "Reading the Forested Landscape" by Tom Wessels are high on my list of nature books. They have both really added to my appreciation and understanding of the places I hike. Highly recommended.

Sounds like a great VT weekend!

Shoot! I don't know if anyone did get an Alt. we were too busy enjoying multiple ringworms and browns. and others. ok. we had multiples of pretty much everything.

Black was a very cool mountain. The horseshoe shape and exposed granite ledge belied a geology more interesting than most around here. I'll have to check out the book(s). Thanks for the tip!

only granite dome down that way eh? Wow that kinda surprises me! I guess I've seen so many granite domes elsewhere that I failed to notice its uniqueness. Definately a very nap-able summit esp since the biting bugs arent out... yet.

Gotta love the impromptu snowball mortar attacks :)
