If Dave's -FRAPPER- map told me anything, it's that we have a sizable contingent of members here out in the western frontier of NY. there's 13 in the western part of the state so far. Figure the map (right now) only has about 7.5% of the members on it, there is likely to be prbably 60-80 others out there.

Time for another gathering/social I'd say. We did one in the fall of 2003 and had alot of fun. We pretty much just met out at one of the local pubs here in Rochester and then enjoyed an evening of food, drink and general merryment.

What say........... Anyone interested in something like that? Rochester seems like a centeral location, but we can certainly discuss other options. I'd be willing to take the lead on a local event. If there is some interest, we can starts getting at the details and plan for a middle of November date.

Last time, we did it mid-week as this time of year w/e's book up fast. Certainly don't have to, but that worked out well last time. Lemme know.

I used to commute daily to Rochester from Tonawanda, but now it seems so far. Anyway, I'm in! As long as I don't have to work. My schedule is extremly irregular. If I have enough advance notice, I can probably arrange a night off. Par-teee!

I'm about 30 miles southeast of Buffalo and if my schedule permits I'm in. Rochester would be fine, or Buffalo. There's a very nice Irish Pub in Batavia that might be a litter more central to everyone ???

Tim,
Liked what we did before, so doing something in Rochester is fine (although at rob's suggestion for Batavia, well... I'll at least second it, but it won't stop me from coming).

TeeJay, Ward, slamdog and I have been trying to get a day to celebrate their 46, and initial indications seem to indicate that this would be a great time to do it. Have any dates picked?? Hump day Wednesday?? Soon rather than later??

Glad you posted, we're due!! Keep us posted...

Laurie and I are planning to come out to the Rochester area to:

- Visit my son who's a student at SUNY ESF
- Do some hiking
- Visit some pubs (Views and Brews)

We were going to make a weekend of it. If you could recommend a nice, cheap place to stay, that would be great.

See the list (link below) for where we might hike/drink if you want to hook up with us. We're going to stop in Syracuse too.

Tim,
Rochester is a good 1.5 hours for me to get to 390 plus getting into the city. Too long for a weeknight. ( It used to take me about two hours to get to Penfield. ) You'll have to frolic and make merry without me.

Okay, so we have some interest. Any date prefs? Batavia is doable, but I have NO idea about anything out that way (good food and drink locations) so someone will have to take up the planning for that. I know Rochester well, but I must admit to not knowing much about that area.

Lets set a date and make a plan.

Tom, PM me and I'll try to help you out. I've done all the Rochester Brews and Views (many times over too).

Ok -- let's party !!!

My preference would be a weeknight other than Tuesday and a location on the west side of Rochester.

I've been to O'Lacys Irish Pub in Batavia and it's a nice place with cold beer and good pub food. Not large though. Doesn't really matter I guess, pick a nice place and I'll be there.

Although there are an initial four chiming in from the Buffalo area, I think that doing Batavia is a bit further for those coming from the East (Auburn and beyond), so in fairness, Rochester is a decent option, IMO.

How about in a couple of weeks -- Wed. November 9th. You name the pub.

Okay, the ninth is out for me too (I might be dashing to the Dacks for a mid-weeker). How bout Monday the 7th). If that works we'll go with that.

Two Options for places (or I'm open to other suggestions) -

1) JB Quimby's - Great Beer. Great Food. A good option and a place I frequent. It's within a couple miles of the central Rochester Thurway exit (#46) and Route (#390) for folks from the south. Plus, Monday's are generally low key nights there, so we'll have plenty of room and service.

2) -Rohrbachs- - Great Beer, Good Food. It's on the west side of Rochester, and pretty easy to get to. It's a few miles less for the folks from points west, but it's not a real stretch for eastward folks either.

Lemme know and if the 7th works, we'll lock it down and mark the schedule. :) Perhaps the B-flo folks could work out a car-pool too.

The 7th works for me. There may be defections caused by the Indianapolis at New England Monday Night Football game.

Have no fear, the game will be on (at least at Quimbys), I watched a part of the Jets-Atlanta game there last night.

Monday the 7th is fine for me too. JB Quimby's off Jefferson Road looks like a pretty central place... the fact that Mavs frequents the place... well.... should we vote given that piece of knowledge???

So what should we think about Wardy not wanting his son to party with us?? Like are we not good enough??? ;) Bring him along, we'll teach him some of the finer things of life in WNY!!

Teejay/slam -- you in on this??

Ahh... beer gathering. A gathering of beers and kindred minds... can't wait!!

Rotten night

You would have to pick the night before Election Day, argghh? No, I'm not running for office. I'm an election inspector, one of those friendly people who greet you when you walk in to your polling place. Tuesday 5:30 AM - ~10:00 PM. A long day but I should be able to make it to Rochester, if the Slammer promises to drive and doesn't mind me curling up in his car to go to sleep about 8:00.

Don't forget to vote on Tuesday.

99%

I'm 99% sure I'm in. And until I read Teejays post, I was just going to sleep at Wardy's (or my daughters) in Rochester. But if I got to bring Teejay back so the voters will be greeted, than I will consider it part of my civic duty! The 7th looks good for me. We were going to stay an extra day at camp, but we'll head back. Anyplace is fine with me. I won't answer for Ward, but I beleive it'll work for him too.
As far as Ward bringing his son, it probably has more to do with taking an 11 year old into a pub, than him not wanting to meet the likes of Bubba and.... If anyone else wants to ride from Syracuse area, let me know. I'll probably have room for 2 more (in addition to Teejay!) Lance

 I sheepishly admit to having both my Daughter (12) and Son (14) at Quimby's on multiple occasions.

In all fairness, it a pub/grill as much as a stand alone bar. We'll consider it set then. Monday, Nov 7, 2005 at Quimby's. I'll provides more specifics later, but for now, block off the calendar for that evening. TeeJay, is there REALLY any law against performing those duties with a hangover :D
