Ammo slick not far from the start due to thin snow coating. After the Gorge lookout microspikes, the mighty tough little dog's 4pawclaws or the like a must - very icy steep ledge in many places. Shortly beyond the hut on the way to Monroe I removed the microspikes and never put them back on. The trail to Monroe had plenty of dry rock to step on, and the same for the Crawford Path to Washington. The Trinity Connector was a bit icy but with care no problem. A stretch along the cog was a walk on a path. Jewell was fine hiking all the way to where it goes off the ridge into the trees, but even then despite a snow coating it was decent and it got better as we got lower until it was back into Fall conditions. One blowdown across it near parking area, but I easily sawed off both sections.

Write this date down and if you ever get a chance to use Mr. Peabody's Way Back machine, come back to today and do this hike. Sunny, decent trail footing and extended views high above the clouds and best of all almost no wind, even on Washington. The work crews were all out up there and they said it was the best day of the year. A man and a dog can't have more fun without a woman than doing this hike this day.
