The trail from the base station to the ridge is very well traveled. It's pretty well packed with lots of post holes off to the sides. Snowshoes were not required. We "barefooted" up to the ridge, but could have used crampons for the last 1/4 mile or so. Crampons are a must up on the ridge. Sat 3/7 was pretty windy at the hut (30mph steady easily).

We first summitted Monroe since it was right there (although we could only see about 50ft.). Winds were very steady up and back. After returning to the hut the clouds broke and there she was. Half our group decided to summit Washington. The ridge is very iced over with pockets of hard-packed snow. The summit was very windy especially up on the observation deck. Mt. Wash Observatory site reported that winds were around 60mph steady at that time.
