Trail Conditions: trail is well-packed by numerous snowshoes. no signs of barebootage.
Special Equipment Required: snowshoes.
Comments: cool temps and snow showers at the start, more AM snow than was forecast, with some sunshine on the descent.
To my surprise, there were at least six groups on the trail today, including our group of four. An overall atmosphere of festive good cheer prevailed. Big friendly AMC group - dogs - guys carrying sleds - smiles all around.
Speaking of good cheer, thanks to the two guys who shared some Wild Turkey with us on the summit of Starr King. Beats slushy Gatorade!
Another group consisted of two men - one man guiding a second, visually-impaired man up the mountain, both proceeding steadily toward the summit. Gentlemen, my hat is off to you both. This display of courage, determination, and generosity was humbling.
