Wanted to check out the new snow, but only for a 1/2 day hike. Waumbek it is.

Lots of animal tracks down near the bottom, and the snowshoe tracks of one of the regular local's, accessing their own trail network. Other than those first tracks, no others were left visable on the route.

Mostly soft, cushiony powder up through the Spring (approx 2.2 miles) than some sections of wind - packed / much denser snow surface up to the Star King clearing. From the fireplace to the summit, mostly soft powder, but interspersed with more wind - packed sections.

Could the trail have been traveled over during yesterday's storm perhaps? I didn't sink much at all, just barely enough to cover my skis. OR, was I that heavy handed with the Pixie Dust....... I had been concerned that the section from Star King to the summit would be loaded with drifts to struggle through (it was quite windy last night) but there too, my snowshoes stayed mostly on the surface.

The return glide was Oooooo under the thin sliver of a cresent Moon
