Absolutely perfect day for a hike. And Welch-Dickey is a perfect early season hike right now totally dry and free of snow.
Did the loop the normal way starting at 8:40 and back at the car by 10:30 and wasn't even rushing. Felt so good and always wanted to try the loop the opposite way, that I set right back up the other way to do the loop again. Took some more time up collecting some sun on the open ledges but was still back to my car around 12:45.
Was a bit of a challenge being the first hike of the season and being back at the car to start all the way back up and around, but the 4.4 miles in less than 2 hours just wasn't enough and I still felt good. And overall, I still felt good getting back to the car (again!) after the 8.8 miles. And was nice after having always done this loop (4th time now) hitting Welch first to take it the other way for a different perspective. This loop is always one of my favs and I am always recommending it to people.
The dogs were out in force as many people had their dogs with them. All good dogs too.
Let's hope that weather is a sign of things to come the rest of the spring and all summer!
