Parked at town forest trailhead on Tandy Brk Rd, summit is much closer to Root Hill Rd but didn't want to chance the mud over there. First part of trail is narrow sidehill on steep bank with mixture of snow, ice, wet slaty rock, and bare ground - if you are the sort who is quick to put on traction you should avoid this trail for the next month or you will tear it up badly. Also not recommended for beginning snowshoers at any snow depth. Middle part of red trail is fairly level and wanders a lot. Once across powerline it ascends again to cleared viewpoint of Ascutney just beyond summit which is a few steps in woods.

Sounds like a nice hike. Is it local to you?
Probably 1.5 hrs away with the slow driving on muddy roads, I can get to parts of the National Forest quicker but no peaks there I haven't been to

The Cornish Town Forest has enough loop trails to keep all but the speediest hiker busy all day, but I had an afternoon appointment so spent longer driving than hiking
