Thought I could bushwack around on a nearly snow-free southern slope. Wrong! I wanted to go to the top of Mt. Isreal and then bushwack around from there to Dinsmore Mtn. and explore the area. Too much snow, so I just hiked hiked to the summit and back down. The knee-deep snow was ok to bare boot in the morning, as all four parties did yesterday, but by the afternoon the each step was ankle deep water under the snow pack.

Nice views of the Sandwich Range from the summit...

The are also some nice restricted views of Sqam Lake.

Happy Trails :)

I loved Mt. Isreal when I hiked it back in November, just gorgeous views of the Sandwich Range. I went the opposite way via Guinea Pond and Mead trails. How's the Wentworth normally, looks a bit steeper than the Mead.

I remember startling a grouse out of it's groundlevel nest right next to the trail, scared the crap out of me. It was neat to check out her accomodations. :)

Nice picture forestnome, I enjoy your posts. Chocorua looks rather stunning right now, doesn't she? With the snow cap still hangin on. (but not for long with these temps)

Here are some of mine, cheers

Thank you for the TR - I was going to do Israel last week but held out due to the conditions...and think I will continue to do so until this snow/muck is gone in the lower elevations!
