Date of Hike: March 14, 2010
Trail Conditions: Icy in morning, powder snow in afternoon. Staircase to the summit from the end of the road was deep hard snow (higher than the railings in several places). Open pavement around the Lake Placid switchback.
Special Equipment Required: Skis very helpful (especially on the descent). Crampons or snowshoes useful for summit.
Comments: Snowed the entire trip, but was raining at lower elevations below the toll gate. The ski down with fresh snow was fabulous!
