trails: blueberry ledge, rollins, diceys mill
conditions: whole route was hardpacked with a couple inches of new snow on top. the new snow was was and sticky and loved balling up under snowshoes. blueberry ledge was badly postholed and beaten up as stated in a previous post. the ledges had good snow coverage and i was able to get up them no problem with crampons. snowshoes would work as well for now. whiteface summit heavily drifted and highest drifts provided nice views above the trees. rollins has a rough snowshoe track. lots of wet, snowy branch banging. diceys mill in great shape. took the left branch to the summit and it was a bit rough, but heading down below rollins junction it was broken nice and smooth.
equipment: snowshoes. crampons are a good idea for the ledges, but not currently necessary.
comments: a nice day. warm temps and no wind. good views from the ledges and suprisingly the actual summit of whiteface (on top of the drifts).
