The trail is well broken-out all the way to the true summit. We all wore shoeshoes for the traction (and to preserve the trail). Poles, of course, were helpful in places. Above the first lookout ledge, where it gets steep and rocky, the 'shoes started getting in the way on the scrambles. One guy switched to microspikes but found that the snow was still deep and loose enough to lessen their effectiveness. I put on full crampons and was glad I did.
A nice sunny day (my nose got a little burned) but it was fairly cold and windy a times. Lots of ice in my beard by the end of the day.
