Date of Hike: 10/11/09
Trails: Lost Pond, Wildcat Ridge, 19-Mile Brook
Trail Conditions: Lost Pond Trail was a little wet and muddy. The ledges going up E Peak were surprisingly dry considering the morning rain. Further up we found tiny snow flurries and then tiny hail. It was very windy at the last ledge and at the gondola station between E and D; the old closed building's underporch was a protected lunch spot. By the time we finished eating the sun came out, the hail stopped, and some of the clouds blew away. The trail was mostly fine from D to A, but with one big mud hole and some smaller ones. Going down the east side of A, the rocks were wet in many places.
Special Equipment Required: lots of layers of clothing, gloves, warm hat, lots of food and water. No need for traction gear that day. Headlamp if you're slow like us.
Viewing Conditions: partly cloudy, good but not perfect. Best to the south and east.
