I can't find this in my guides. This is near treeline, taken on June 25, on the Southern Presidentials. It's not a very sharp image because I had just gotten my digital camera and wasn't yet very familiar with it. I'm going back to shoot this again this summer.

Thanks, arghman! I think you nailed it. If so, it's threatened, so I'll pm you the location. There are not many images on the flora websites of this plant, so I'll send some in when I get good pics this summer.

S. uva-ursi is also easy to spot in July when it has gone to seed & has fluffy cottony stuff (I don't know the technical term for that :D ) to help the seeds float away on the wind. Very bright green and glossy leaves. Here it is growing w/ diapensia and alpine bilberry:
