Snow was lighter and fluffier the higher I climbed. Previously broken out 50 minutes up the trail, and I added to that up to the shelter, where I turned around. The 5" of fluff was beautiful, but I had enough slippin and sliding even with the MSR's. an hour and forty five up and 50 minutes down. weeeeeeeee......
I would recommend snowshoes, as the trail is not packed, drifts in places, and there is much more snow higher up.
And yeah, almost got stuck in the parking lot due to ice under just a coating of snow which hadn't been plowed or treated. Thank you four wheel drive Blazer.
