Two man climb of Wittenberg from Woodland Valley. Snow conditions: Mushy on lowest third, "good" to T intersection (half way point), heavy from there to top. The trail is now set to the top but some parts of upper trail are blocked by trees bent over from heavy snow - some crawling is required. Anyone following our track may notice we deviated from the marked trail in a number of places. Snowshoes are obviously required, gaiters recommended.
A trail had been set almost up to the "T" intersection by previous hikers (thank you). We made the trip up in 3:45, down in 1:45. Very slow going up after the "T" due to occasional deep drifts and bent over trees across the trail (and breaking trail). Some difficultly staying on the trail due to deep snow covering the red blazes. We saw no evidence of trail setting beyond Wittenberg (towards Cornell).
