We found ice and snow over the whole trail with a couple of inches down low and a couple of feet up high. We started on full crampons. At the junction with Terrace Mt, we went to snow shoes, and switched back to crampons for the icy ledges. On the way down, we wore crampons with whole way. So that's about nine miles of crampons and 1 mile of snowshoes.
The chimney before the top of Cornell was all ice and crampons are required. Another couple, wearing only stabilizers, circled around the ledges, making deep post holes, thus avoiding the icy ledge.
