Date of Hike: Thurs. April 30, 2009

Trail Conditions: Dry until waterfall @ 2.6 miles. Packed snow getting deeper most of the way up Wright and until the tree line of Algonquin. Algonquin to Iroquois was 4-6 feet of snow.

Special Equipment Required: Crampons and Yak Trax could be useful, not necessary for Wright and Algonquin. Snowshoes a must to Iroquois unless you like post-holing.

Comments: Optional - Wright and Algonquin were nice and my brother in-law and I made it to the top without an issue, despite not having crampons or Yax Trax. We headed over to Iroquois and that's where the nice day stopped. There was 4-6 feet of snow and as soon as we stepped off of the packed snow spine we were up to our waist in snow and sometimes not touching the ground. In certain areas we couldn't locate the snowshoe pack and we were post-holing every other step. It took us 3hrs. to make it to the top of Iroquois and back to Algonquin.
