Date of Hike: 3/10/2009
Trail Conditions: Trails were well packed over the weekend. A few inches of snow had fallen the day before. There were fresh tracks from the hut to Lincoln Woods. Julia the hut caretaker was ahead of us to Bond and there were tracks from someone doing an out and back from LW. Zealand Spur sign is ankle height and easy to miss.
Special Equipment Required: Barebooted Zealand Rd and beginning of Zealand Trail, then switched to stabilicers and microspikes to the hut. Wore snowshoes from the hut to Lincoln Woods Trail. Crampons were not needed.
Comments: Moose was standing 20 feet off trail near pond watching us but let us pass without incident. Bondcliff completed my winter 4000 footers as well as two complete rounds. For Jeff it was #45 in his quest for all 48 in one winter.
