We walked from Twin Bridges on Rt 302 to the Kanc at Lincoln Woods. The road is plowed all the way from Rt. 302 to the summer Zeeland trailhead.
From the trailhead to the hut the trail is packed solid. There is an interesting shortcut that crosses the pond directly below the hut. The ice seemed quite solid.
From the hut to the Zeeland plateau the trail remains well packed. From the plateau to the Guyot summit there is a fair bit of drifting. Many will choose to use snowshoes over this section. The two steep ledges up near the summit are covered with soft snow and make the ascent a pretty good challenge.
Once over the Guyot summit the trail goes back to hard pack. The ridge between Bond and Bondcliff has been blown free of snow. There is some ice and micro spikes are helpful here. The Bondcliff trail was well packed out and easy to follow even in the dark all the way to the wilderness trail
The Wilderness trail in the wilderness area is packed out about three feet wide. Once across the bridge the entire road is packed out. The last tenth of a mile was actually quite icy and probably slippery without some traction. I still had my microspikes on so I couldn't tell for sure.
All water crossings including the lake were well bridged today. More people seemed to be coming from the Lincoln Woods side that is south to north rather than from the Zeeland side north to south.
There were a number of blowdowns here and there along the route, but nothing too difficult to get by.
It snowed up to Zeeland, after that the sun came out and it was beautiful if a bit cold. Lauky and I played a bit of tag-along with a Rocks on Top group most of the day.
The little guy charged along all day and seemed as energetic on the final stretch of the Wilderness road as he was on the walk in. I wish I had half his energy.
47 down and one to go.
