Trail Conditions:
Drying out nicely. Even the "bog pits" between peaks are pretty passable, tho' this weekends rain could soften them up again. Brook crossings are also a piece of cake.
Equipment:
Considered wearing Limmers to deal with the usual ridge mud but wanted to run some, and wore trail sneakers with no trouble. Trekking poles were a plus.
Comments:
Finished the New England "67" 4,000'ers for the year Friday 8/14 on Maine's Redington, but realized that they were all solo EXCEPT these which I'd done with Mtn. Drew April 1st. Hadn't solo'ed them since December. This has been a magical year, and there was enough magic left to get me thru the hike in 3:12 !
This made 100 "4"s for "09 so far.
Saw MEB and Mats walking the road from Greeley to Hancock as I drove down about 1:30 on their "Diretissima", they looked pretty determined!!
