Tom, Field, Avalon (CCW Loop)
Trail Conditions:
* Avalon Trail to A-Z junction: No ice, no snow.
* A-Z to Willey Range junction: No ice, no snow.
* Tom Spur: A couple of small ice patches, easily avoided. Minimal snow.
* Willey Range to Mt. Field summit: Two small icy sections that can be walked around (off trail). Dusting of snow.
* Avalon from Mt. Field summit to Mt. Avalon: A number of large stretches of ice on the steeper sections while coming off Field. Hard to avoid, but can be if you don't mind hugging the trees.
* Mt. Avalon to A-Z junction: A few medium sized patches on the steep sections of Avalon trail before the summit spur. Easier to avoid than the stuff higher up on Mt. Field.
Special Equipment Required: Stabilicers or some traction would probably be helpful. I managed without, but I had a number of slips and slides.
Comments: Great day and beautiful weather!
