We did the loop today from the Nineteen mile trailhead, heading first for Camp Dodge and the Imp trail. Up Imp and on up North Carter trails to Carter Moriah.
Lauky and I stayed on Carter Moriah all the way to Carter Notch. We picked up nineteen mile from there and headed back to the car.
The views were good today especially on the ridge heading up to Middle Carter and on Mt. Height. By the time we reached Height the sky was no longer blue but the views were still good.
The trails were all in good shape. There are a few easy stepovers on nineteen mile but nothing that impedes progress.
There were some flies here and there especially up on the ridge but all in all there were very few bugs.
The trails are basically dry. Any crossings were either dry or easily done or bridged as on nineteen mile.
From a dogs standpoint, except for nineteen mile the water is scarce but there were a few spots for drinking although somewhat spaced out, all along the trail. Nineteen mile offered much more doggie drinking water.
There are a few ledges on the Carter Moriah trail but most dogs will handle them with ease.
We ran into Paul and Tom Leblanc for third time since spring. The last time was two weeks ago on Jefferson. We spent a good part of the day together. This father son team is about halfway through their 48. Good going.
Distance about 12 miles
Elevation gain 4736'
