Both are small instruments that are easily dropped. Both have grooves in them for floss to be tied around them, so that if (and when) dropped they don't go down the chute. If the DDS had floss around them he will be in better shape than if he did not. But none-the-less he is liable (the 97 years old is irrelevant in this case).
