    going to baxtah! beta welcomed

Definately need to hang food at Chimney, even in the bunkhouse.Pick up a waterproof bag, or use an internal trash bag. I use a large carbiner to hang, it makes it easier to catch the hook on the bear line. Have fun, Chimney is a great place, just spent 3 nites in July, and was happy to catch the...

Descending the Dudley Trail - Katahdin

I have sumitted and descended Katadhin from every direction (except down the knife, only up) and trail over the years. As someone who has real issues with fear of heights, I would never take anyone up the mountain who has exposure issues. Perhaps Abol, but the table land is still wide open...

    Yellowstone / Tetons

OOps, one other quick idea, in Yellowstone Washburn is great, also consider Mt. Avalanche on the Easern side, great views over the Lake and south to the Tetons, North to the Sawtooths, check with rangers this is big bear country in the summer.

    Yellowstone / Tetons

Any of the canyons are worthy destinations, the ever popular Lake Solitude, Holly lake are two of my favorites. Teton Crest over Devils Stairs is also great. Depending on your itenerary consider the Alaska Basin, we went in through the Idaho side, (Jedidiah Smith Wilderness) this is a wild and...

    Mt. Clinton Road Parking Lot

Yesterday (12-12) the road was untouched. Does anyone have any information about policy changes regarding plowing to the lot? This would be a significant loss of spaces if this lot is not going to be open anymore. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks, Mike

How wild should the mountains be?

The wilderness of the west is not possible here, you will not be able to hike to a place where you see no other people. Mountains should be enjoyed by all. In thirty years I do not see these mts as overcrowded. I think a mix of bridges over larger streams and rivers, shelters, I would love more...
