    Minus33 Clothing Company

Has anyone heard of Minus33? They bill themselves as: Minus33 is an American company founded in New Hampshire by L.W Packard & Co. in 2001.[1][2] Minus33 is claimed to have 100 years of textile manufacturing experience behind it in parent company L.W. Packard & Co. I'd never heard of them...

Forget my previous post. Latest forecast (Monday, 11/14) says 6-12 for the Whites and mountains of western Maine on Wednesday. Woohoo! Hey Skiguy, you think Pinnacle will be is IN this weekend? :)

    EMS Sold -- Again

What's really interesting at the KTP is visiting the gun department and watching the guys checking out assault rifles.

    EMS Sold -- Again

Hey, any of you old-as-dirt dogs remember Skimiesters in North Woodstock NH? That was a cool place. Guy who worked there lived in a rustic shack behind the store and was some type of a minister. I bought most of my winter kit there when I was a kid.

    Leaf Blower Assisted Rescue

Call me old fashioned, but... I long for the good old days when the air was blue with burning piles of leaves. Much more enjoyable smell than the blue air of two-stroke leaf blowers.

    EMS Sold -- Again

I know the EMS chain has its detractors, and as a part time employee I admit I am less than totally objective! But, if you want to actually try on rock climbing shoes or mounteering boots, heft an ice ax or evaluate the balance of ice tools, play with all forms of rock protection, sample a...

How long has VFTT been in existence?

As I recall part of Darren’s hoped for revenue stream from the site was selling his mountain photography of the Whites and elsewhere. In the Lexicomm era service could be spotty and was pretty slow. And in reality Metzky’s site might very well have given birth to VFTT. Congrats Dave!

    Wind Warning

Daughter Molly is on her honeymoon doing some hiking waaaay down south. She sent me this pic of how they alert the sports to dangerous wind conditions. Shall we place similar signs at Franconia Ridge and other blustery spots in the Whites? :)

    EMS Sold -- Again

The EMS retail chain was sold this past summer. And the buyer is not who you might expect. It's a company that is new to the outdoor industry and that defines itself as follows: “GoDigital Media Group a diversified multinational conglomerate focused on technology-enabled and vertically...

An Ode to a Slow Slog in Heavy Boots

Darn Tough Sale Canceled for the third year in row

When I worked at EMS last winter our store could not get product from Darn Tough. We had to eventually remove their display rack cause it was perpetually empty despite many customers requesting the product.

Cog Rolls out big development plans near the summit.

Interesting that the chair of the committee (R Jeb Bradley) is an avid hiker and Grid finisher.

Cog Rolls out big development plans near the summit.

Couple of thoughts: In my work experience there were always two kinds of staff: doers who took the job seriously and got the day to day work done. And careerists who did some work but first and foremost managed their career opportunities within the organization. Second thought: is it my...

    Artist's Bluff

I think it's great that so many people got their ***** and out of their cars and WALKED UP a trail to take in some natural beauty on a blue bird day in the Whites. Maybe a few of these city slickers will become pro-conservation after such a mind blowing experience in the wild.

Cog Rolls out big development plans near the summit.

Thanks PB. I am sure there is a lot of Machiavellian maneuvering going on as various interests work at further monetizing this unique NH natural resource.

Cog Rolls out big development plans near the summit.

I go back and forth on this one: thinking the summit is a total loss to believing there is still hope. While I know it can't be "re-wilded" I see no reason why it can be "restored" to some previous less developed state. So today I'm thinking: Gog plan bad! Instead the state should remove...
