I think it's a precaution. A lot of the roads are closed as of 29 October. I wonder if they'll reopen any of them for use until the snow flies?

I'm thinking about making an ascent of the Zeacliff Trail this weekend. I've never hiked it before so I don't know how steep it is or how much winter might have encroached on it yet. Does anyone have any recent information on this trail regarding snow/ice/running water? -vegematic

I just hiked Carrigain for my 48/67 finish yesterday. There was one small tractor parked on the side of the road and evidence of recent work. It was an easy 30-minute walk each way to the Signal Ridge trailhead. Shouldn't be any big deal if you do end up walking it. -vegematic

I think you'll be fine. I was up there a couple weeks ago and friends who met me made it in regular passenger cars. There were a couple deepish holes but if you take your time you should be able to drive around or straddle them. There was good parking for five cars just before the twin bridges...

One thing that interested me about the scene at Montclair Glen...there were about 17 hikers there, mostly young men. Nobody seemed to think it was odd that a woman might break an athletic record held by a man. Actually, most of the guys thought that was pretty cool. What really astonished them...

I was setting up camp at Montclair Glen yesterday when she passed through at around 6:30 pm. It was an aid stop for her. She seemed to be doing well and was planning to spend last night at App Gap.

I made that trip earlier this summer, over Memorial Day weekend. That section of trail is rough but I really liked it. I found it more attractive than the southern section of the LBT. You will probably get wet, muddy feet, and plants will touch you in the more overgrown areas. Leaving the OH...
