I don't think the article mentions it but the CT links up with a (growing?) trail system in Quebec. It is possible to hike from Crawford Notch as far as Mont Megantic on the CT and the Sentiers Frontaliers. I'm planning to just that next summer. -vegematic

As of Friday the Wild River Rd is still gated. The suspension bridge that carried hikers, snowmachines, and the Highwater Trail across the Wild River at Hastings is gone. There is now, in its place, a "natural bridge" of dozens of trees that caught in the cables and brought the bridge down...

Thanks, Unadogger. If you make this loop it might be better in the opposite direction of what I did. Going CCW would put the steepest stuff on the ascent and would get the relatively boring Shelburne Trail out of the way early. -vegematic
